About Me
Born 1989 to two polish immigrant parents I was raised old fashioned with a hint of the modern world. I am a full time college student at Baruch studying to become a Finance Major. My future career I hope will entail me going onto graduate school for math and finance/economics. I'm taking this CIS course as an elective to see if Web 2.0 is changing the environment of the business world or is it just another marketing ploy used quickly and then discarded.
I work part time for a small clothing company called RECON. I say small just to denote that in comparison to companies say like Triple Five Soul our distribution isn't that large. It has been one of the more rewarding experiences of my life. There I have been taught the basic principles of the retail world as well as the back office dealings of a fashion label. I've also had the pleasure to pick the minds of my boss's friends who sometimes drop by the workplace. These things are something that no book could have taught me.
My two leisure activities are quite peculiar to most people but they hold a lot of resonance within me. Both are interwined within each other and sometimes overlap each other. My first passion in life is sneakers. I'm going to revise that statement, my first activity is the obsession with sneakers. I have studied them, analyzed them, and appreciated them with the utmost conviction. Most are not aware but sneakers are much more than sneakers. They are an expression of who we are, our style and our status as well as being a new medium for artists to demonstrate their creativity. There are two roads that you take when looking for sneakers, one is finding art and the second is style which also includes vintage sneakers. My second activity is running my own business which deals with wholesaling sneakers to stores and to the end consumer. To me this is much more than a business it's my business which I've started from absolutely nothing expected a couple of hundred dollars borrowed from my mom.
